The machining of curved parts is often encountered in the daily operations of machining centers. When machining curved parts, milling is generally used. What are the surface parts? Any processing step of CNC machining center is inseparable from "roughening". When rough milling the blank, according to the allowance given by the surface to be processed, the vertical milling cutter is used for milling layer by layer according to the contour surface, which can improve the milling efficiency. After roughing, the shape layers of the surface will be obvious, and the height of each layer depends on the roughing precision.
Semi-finishing is done before precision milling. The purpose of semi-finishing is to mill away the excess left over from the roughing step. For semi-finish milling, a ball-end milling cutter should be used, and the row and step distances should be larger than those for fine milling. It should be noted that semi-finishing should leave a machining allowance of about 0.5 mm for the subsequent finishing process. After this process, the shape of the machined surface is close to the theoretical surface.
Finishing is the process of final machining the theoretical surface. For finishing, the ball end milling cutter should be used, and the row cutting method should be adopted. When programming, pay attention to the selection of the turning point and the determination of the feed rate. The intersecting line between the curved surface and the blocking surface should be processed separately by a root cleaning program, so as to ensure the smooth connection between the processed curved surface and the blocking surface and avoid obvious tool marks.
The problem of the nose of the ball end mill, is due to the structure and the way of movement, the cutting speed of the ball end mill at the nose is very low. When using a ball end mill to mill a relatively flat surface perpendicular to the surface to be machined, the surface quality cut by the tool tip will be poor. Therefore, cutting with the tool tip should be avoided as much as possible, and the spindle speed should be appropriately increased.
The quality of the processed parts is a problem. When milling curved parts, if it is found that the processing material is not well heat treated, there are cracks, and the structure is uneven, all of which belong to the unqualified part material. Unqualified parts are not necessary for processing and should be stopped to avoid unnecessary waste and safety accidents.
Surface machining is one of the commonly used machining methods in CNC machining centers. In comparison, surface machining is also a relatively complex process. Pay attention to the machining points one by one from rough machining, and surface machining can also be perfectly realized.
